What happens when things don’t take shape the way you want them to? Do you remember making sand castles on the beach when you were a child?

Welcome to the sixth Metaphor Monday video. In this series I explore a different metaphor each week, viewing parenting from a different perspective.

While we were at the beach, I looked over and was surprised to see sand being thrown up from a small pit on the beach.  I went over to see what was going on and found there was a young man, in his twenties sitting in a hole and digging out sand.  “What are you looking for?” I asked him? “Nothing.” he replied.  “”Are you trying to get somewhere?”  I joked.   “Nope!  Just digging for the sake of digging.”

He was kind enough to allow my also curious son to get in and start digging.  My boys then began digging their own sand hole at the beach, just for the sake of digging.

Enjoy this weeks video!

Are you building sandcastles or digging yourself deeper?
